Sideband Freebanding 27.475MHz LSB – CB Radio MURS GMRS Ham 11 Meters

This recording was made in Southern Michigan on 1/10/2012 – sidebanding freebanders on lower sideband. Unlike the many that use AM, such as truckers and the mentally disadvantaged, a lot of operators stick with sideband because, well, sidebanders are polite, friendly and easy going. They’re also a bit smarter.

A good amount of these guys running SSB above channel 40 but below 28.000 are licensed hams running ham gear. In fact, there’s a gentleman’s agreement in place, English language stations generally use LSB mode, and Spanish language stations generally run USB mode. The calling frequency is 27.555 USB for English language and 27.455 USB for Spanish language. Stations QSY after making contact on the calling freq. Do a Youtube search for “27.555 USB”.
