I was browsing Amazon one time and it seems like those 36 mile 2 way radios are in a way ‘hot sellers’.
I’m thinking that the majority of the people who purchase these high distance 2 way radios aren’t aware of the GMRS licensing they are required to obtain.
So do they really enforce the GMRS licensing?
Also, I’v been looking around the internet and it seems like channels 15-22 (or more?) are required to have a GMRS license BUT what if you use a preset on those channels 15-22 that allow you to have 38 presets?
from what i know about about standard 2 way radios they usually have 22 channels 14 FRS 8 GMRS however the midland gxt1000 vp4 as you can see has 50 channels do these channels fall under legal operating frequencies? or do they interfere with commercial radios?
The seller of this production say that range of it is 10 mile is it true? ?

i want to buy a two way radio to communicate with my husband while he is at work, its a 2 mile distance. However, while looking to buy one online, I see alot of reviews that mention having to pay the FCC to use them?! Is this true? I see two different types, GMRS and FRS. Can someone give me some links to a set of 2 way radios’s, under , that you dont have to pay anything extra to use? Thank you!
My girlfriend is going to Tanzania in Jan, and I was thinking about getting her a pair of two-way talk radios for her and her mother (they are going together.) Manufacturer websites are saying that it depends on the terrain conditions. Does anyone know for sure weather or not an American Brand walkie-talkie style 2-way radios will work in Tanzania?
I have been giving my supervisors cell phones for work. This is not working and I am looking for a way to keep our office, 3 supervisors and myself connected via 2 way radios (or similar). This would mean buying out of the sprint contract for two phones. I need up to a 30 mile range.
