Alright, so i have 2 Motorola walkie talkies thats FRS/GMRS and has all 22 channels. it also has a scan feature which will detect any channel and privacy code being in use from 1 to 121
My brother works at home depot, and sometimes he forgets to put the walkie talkie back, and i noticed that the channels are locked to 1,2,and 3 all each with a privacy code of 1.
My walkie talkies for some reason wont pick up the transmission. I find that odd because i know that the government allowed only a block of 22 channels.
I went to a grocery store today and took my walkie talkie with me to see if it would be possible to pick up theirs, nothing at all.
So im wondering, do commercial businesses get a whole different set of frequencies? or is it something else?
Just another installment in my series about emergency communications. These are pretty neat little radios, price is right, and fairly versitle. Defenitly get my 2 thumbs up. Im in no way a communications expert, so this is just my review from a consumer perspective. These offer some complex features that arent available on other radios like the use of repeaters, but they are fairly simple to operate. These Uniden two-way radios are pretty nice ‘walkie-talkies’, and have some pretty cool functions. Very handy NOAA Weather Channel, and Emergency Weather Alert as well. I bought them to be a relatively solid communication back-up to our phones in the event of natural disaster which potentially could temporarily knock out electicity, water, cell phones, etc. I got the “28-mile” set, not knowing you need a GMRS license from the FCC to take advantage of the potential range these little radios have. But they are good to have stashed in a faraday box, just in case!
136-174MHz & 400-470MHz Dual-Band The KG-UVD1P is a small personal use radio capable of daul-band operation between 136-174MHz (VHF) and 400-470MHz (UHF). The power output on VHF is 5W and on UHF is 4W. This radio perfomrs very well in the role of personal communications. It will function flawlessly on the GMRS/FRS frequencies and marine radio frequencies, making it ideal for interactions with friends who may be using the GMRS/FRS or marine radios commonly found at Wal-Mart or other stores. This radio also works with most Police radio systems, so you can use it to listen in to your local PD. The KG-UVD1P performs on the 2m and 70cm HAM radio bands as well, and supports duplex operation. Making this little radio a very handy tool for working your local repeaters or satellite operation. The KG-UVD1P can be programmed manually, or by computer. (see image below) The software that comes with this radio allows saving/loading programmed sets so synchronising multiple radios is very easy. www.mypicx.com If you have any questions about this radio that are not answered by this review, please feel free to contact me. This was an unbiased review, as I have no stake in the radio, the company, or the seller mentioned.
I know I’m not crazy, I have a couple of friends who remember them too. They were these "walkie talkies" or "kids cell phones" that were advertised maybe two years ago that worked like a two way radio in the since that you could only talk to the person who had the other phone-type thing that came in packages of two. You didn’t need minutes and they could reach across town if need be, the same reception as a cell phone, but works as a two way radio. I need help finding these! And please keep in mind I’m not thinking of the walkie talkie phones brought out recently by bigger cell phone companies, those have pricey plans. I remember the commercial said that you’d never have to buy a plan or never have to buy minutes, that it was a one time cost when you bought the things so kids could talk to the friend that you gave the other phone too. Please, if you have any information, leave it here. Thank you for your time!

how to communicate between two PC via LAN similar to using walkie talkie or two way radio
i am doing commissioning in a industrial site were we mostly use walkie talkie or two way radio from motorolla to communicate with the person in field and the person in control room.
now getting a radio sometimes seems difficult and sometimes communication will not be clear due to building / wall obstruction.
now i have LAN setup between all the sites linked to central control room.
these LANs are not connected to internet. its a industrial LAN used for industrial devices to communicate to Central Control room.
now i want to use these LAN to communicate between field and control room using PC. is it possible to communicate using voice. is there a simple method to communicate without spending much.
These requirements are temporary until we finish off our commissioning which has a period of two months.
for these two months i want to communicate with my colleage in control room.
i usually stay in field and do the commissioning my actions will be reflected in controlroom but i need to know the results for these i used use radio to ask the other person in control room for verification. this verification goes throughout the day. sometime i use mobile phone to ask him. but i spend lots of money on the communication.
Always i also have a notebook pc at site and he also has a server(pc) at control room i just thought if we could communicate each other via LAN than expensive mobile phone.
The Motorola Radio P-200 Handie-Talkie which was built in the early 90’s. It is still a great radio. Dependable and Sturdy. In this video there are 2 versions shown and how to use some of the accessories. If you need just a few channels this radio is a great tool for you. For Businesses or Personal it is cost effective. It is great to use with GMRS (General Motor Radio Service). You DO need a FCC license to operate on GMRS channels and or Business Frequencies. You DON”T need a license to operate on FRS (Family Radio Service)
